Blackstone Homes for Vulnerable People
At Blackstone, we believe that every family deserves the dignity of a safe and permanent home. For many widows, orphans, and vulnerable families, the reality is very different. Too often, they are forced to live in makeshift shelters built from bamboo, tin sheets, or whatever scraps they can find. These fragile structures cannot withstand the heavy rains, the heat, or the flooding that so often devastates communities. They offer little privacy and almost no security. Children grow up exposed to danger, illness, and exploitation, while parents live in constant fear of what might happen when they are away working.
The absence of a secure home means far more than discomfort. It means children left alone in unsafe spaces, families without sanitation, leading to disease and poor health, mothers without privacy, and young people without a safe space to study or dream about their future. A home is the difference between constant vulnerability and a life lived with dignity.
Our Homes Programme has been created to lift families out of this cycle. We build homes from solid brick, designed to last for generations. Each home includes a kitchen and a bathroom, with proper sanitation to ensure health and hygiene. These are not temporary shelters, but permanent structures that provide safety, stability, and the foundation for a better future. Built to withstand the elements, they offer protection from heavy rains, heat, and flooding.
The impact of a home goes beyond the family who lives in it. When a child grows up in a safe space, they are healthier, better able to attend school, and more likely to break free from poverty. Parents can work with peace of mind, knowing their children are secure. Communities become stronger as families live with stability rather than crisis. One home can change not just a single generation, but those that follow.
Families are selected through a careful process that prioritises the most vulnerable widows, orphans, and those living in extreme poverty are always considered first. We work with community leaders, elders, local community based organisations and conduct assessments to ensure fairness and transparency, making sure each home goes to those who need it most.
These homes are zakat eligible, and they represent one of the most powerful forms of sadaqah jariyah. To provide a permanent home is to give an ongoing gift, where the reward continues for as long as a family benefits from it. A safe home offers relief today, and security for tomorrow. It is a legacy of care that endures for decades.
You can take part in this generational change.
- £25 – Windows and doors for safety and light
- £100 – Bricks to build the structure
- £250 – help us build the foundation
- £5,000 – A complete home for a vulnerable family
Every contribution makes a lasting impact. Each brick laid is a step towards dignity, safety, and the promise of a better future. Together, we can provide homes that protect the vulnerable, uplift generations, and break the cycle of poverty.
